May 14, 2013: Farol Tomson and Mark
to score 9 points at USMS Nationals in Indianapolis, leading
GERM to a tie for 156th place out of 182 teams that scored.
This was Farolís 7th USMS Short Course Nationals. He had
best times for the year in the 50 and 100 free, and 50 and
100 fly. Farol has asked that there be no mention of his
performance in the 100 IM. Despite having flown out of Indy
all the time during grad school, Farol thought he was in the
wrong city when he arrived. Turns out they built a new
airport three years ago.
Mark swam in his third Masters Nationals meet. He started
the meet on the wrong foot with a hideous 400 IM. Observers
from human rights organizations claimed his backstroke leg
was a form of self-waterboarding, but swimming officials
reluctantly concluded that it was legal after getting a
long, long, look at it. After a nap, the 200 fly went much
better, as did the 50 fly and 100 IM the next day.
