USMS Summer Nationals 2014

 
 

August 17, 2014:  Outstanding swims by all 26 GERMs led to a 9th place finish (146 teams scored) at Summer Long Course Nationals, our highest ever by far.  Fred Hviid broke the M40-44 200m back world record he set a week earlier in Montreal, and also won the 1500m free and 200m free.  GERM had three other national champions:  Ashley Sippel in the W18-24 50 and 100m breast; Ashley Miller in the W25-29 50 and 100m free; and Jeanne Lappin in the W55-59 200m fly.   GERM swimmers set 36 new team records in individual events, and 9 new team relay records.  Individual team records were set by Sippel (W18-24 50 and 100m free, 50 and 100m breast, and 50m fly);Miller (W25-29 50 and 100m free and 50m fly); Leah Heil (W30-34 50m fly, 200m back and IM); Denise Noznesky (W45-49 200 and 400m free and 200m back and IM); Lappin (W55-59 400m free and 200 and 400 IM); Arlene Proebsting (W70-74 50 and 100m free);Jason George (M25-29 50m fly, 200m breast and IM); Hviid (M40-44 200 and 1500m free and 200m back); Nicholas Irons (M40-44 100m breast); Farol Tomson (M40-44 100m fly and 200m IM); Karl Wunderlich (M45-49 50, 200, and 400m free); Douglas Markoff(M45-49 50m fly); Jeff Williams (M45-49 200m breast); Stephen Wright (M65-69 200m back); Roger Golden(M70-74 200m fly);Jim Hillman (M70-74 50m breast); Ron Greger (M70-74 100m breast); David Robinson (M70-74 50m fly).  Also contributing to GERMís 9th place point total were Dean Baudler and John Abbott.

Relay team records were set by womenís 160-199 200m free:  Nozneski, Terri Postma, Proebsting, Sippel; menís 160-199 200m free:Hviid, Irons, Bryan Main, Markoff; menís 280-324 200m free:  Greger, Ken Wall, Golden, Hillman mixed 120-159 200m free: Heil, Miller, Wunderlich, Irons; mixed 200-239 200m free:  Noznesky, Hviid, Lappin, Mike Osinski; mixed 240-279 200m free: Proebsting, Robinson, Jennifer McVeigh, Wright; mixed 120-159 200m medley: Daniel Roetert, Sippel, Tomson, Miller; mixed 160-199 200m medley:  Hviid, Wunderlich, Lappin, Noznesky; womenís 160-199 200m medley:  Heil, Postma, Lappin, Noznesky.
